Metal mesh pioneer The Expanded Metal Company has extended its ExMesh™ security product offering with a new modular security cage range.

The company, which is based in Hartlepool, UK, has developed the range to provide an easily transportable, flatpack alternative to static storage cages.

The ExMesh™ modular security cages have been designed to offer high impact resistance and be simple to assemble, install and disassemble.

The steel cages can be used internally or externally to secure items such as gas cylinders, PPE, tools, bikes and high value equipment. They can also be used as machine guards.

The ExMesh™ modular security cages also offer good through-vision and airflow, and are hot dip galvanised to EN ISO 1461:2022 which provides long-life and low maintenance corrosion protection.

The Expanded Metal Company’s ExMesh™ range offers innovative, British-made fencing systems, gates, security meshes and other security products which are designed to protect people, property and infrastructure from a broad array of threats.

Expanded metal, which has been used to form the modular cage panels, is an inherently strong material. As it is formed from one piece of metal, there are no joins or welds which can be worked loose, and the uncut ‘knuckles’ of expanded metal can withstand pressure better than welds or joints. The material also has a high strength to weight ratio.

ExMesh™ products are developed and manufactured at The Expanded Metal Company’s 25,000 sqm site in Hartlepool, which is a long-established global centre for expanded metal expertise.

The Expanded Metal Company, which has operated for more than 125 years, was the first UK fencing manufacturer to be awarded ‘Secured by Design’ status.

Philip Astley, managing director of The Expanded Metal Company, said: “ExMesh™ modular security cages are an important addition to our security range, and have been developed to meet market demand for a robust and cost-effective alternative to static cages.

“We remain an innovator in expanded metal more than 125 years after our formation, and our commitment to product development demonstrates this.”

Kalem Ainsley, Mechanical CAD Engineer at ExMesh™, who led on the product design and development commented: “We work closely with a number of industry sectors and identified a need for modular cage systems that could store goods securely, enable businesses to save space and costs during transportation, and be versatile enough for use in multiple environments.”

Ian Salvin, Security Fencing Estimator at ExMesh™ added: “ExMesh™ modular security cages can be employed to bolster security in factories, fabrication facilities, utilities infrastructure, construction sites, warehouses, agricultural premises and more.

“We’re delighted to now be taking these security enclosure solutions to market.”

A range of ExMesh™ modular security cages are available to purchase via The Expanded Metal Company’s website and bespoke options are also available.
