Hartlepool, UK-based expanded metal mesh pioneer The Expanded Metal Company has recruited a new business development manager into its ExMesh™ security products division.

Muhammad Short has joined The Expanded Metal Company to strengthen ExMesh™’s market presence, increase the division’s profile and identify and secure new opportunities across a range of sectors, including utilities, transport, data centres and telecoms.

The Expanded Metal Company’s ExMesh™ range offers innovative, British-made fencing systems, gates and other security products which are designed to protect people, property and infrastructure from a broad array of threats.

Muhammad has more than 16 years of experience in the security and fencing industries.

He started his career at The Expanded Metal Company, before joining security door specialist Sunray Engineering as a business development manager.

Muhammad then undertook sales and export roles at security products manufacturer Bradbury Group before being appointed business development manager at Homegrown Timber (Rail) Ltd, where he worked in the fencing arm of the company.

ExMesh™ products are developed and manufactured at The Expanded Metal Company’s 25,000 sqm site in Hartlepool, which is a long-established global centre for expanded metal expertise.

The Expanded Metal Company, which has operated for more than 125 years, was the first UK fencing manufacturer to be awarded ‘Secured by Design’ status.

In addition, ExMesh™ product offering also includes Securilath™: rated up to LPCB LPS 1175 SR 3, it is the only security mesh range to be certified by the LPCB when applied to metal stud, timber stud and block walls.

And the division also manufactures ExMesh™ Fastrack, a fence system developed for the rail industry, and ExMesh™ Electra, designed for the electric and telecoms industries.
