The Engineering & Manufacturing Network (EMN) brought together around 80 members, partners and industry colleagues for a memorable Summer Social on Thursday 18 June, combining relaxed networking with a strong show of support for future STEM talent in the region.
Hosted aboard the Prince Bishop River Cruiser in Durham, the event delivered plenty of opportunities for informal conversation, new connections and even business being done, as engineers and manufacturers from across the North East came together in a unique setting.
Despite some classic British summer weather, spirits remained high throughout. Guests were able to make use of the vessel’s indoor areas, and when the rain was at its heaviest, Captain Jamie ensured everyone stayed comfortable by expertly mooring beneath a bridge—adding a memorable and much-appreciated touch to the afternoon.
Delivered in partnership with the North East STEM Foundation, with support from main sponsor WD-40 and drinks sponsor Smart Manufacturing Technology Ltd, the event highlighted the strength and collaboration of the region’s engineering and manufacturing community.
Importantly, the event also made a meaningful impact beyond networking. EMN is pleased to announce that £750 was raised for the North East STEM Foundation, helping to support initiatives that inspire and engage the next generation of engineers and manufacturers.
The afternoon showcased exactly what EMN is all about—bringing people together to share ideas, build relationships and strengthen the regional sector, all while supporting future talent pipelines.
A selection of photos from the event can be found below, capturing the conversations, connections and community spirit that made the day such a success.
Thank you again to our sponsors – WD-40, SMS Technology Solutions Ltd and everyone who attended—we look forward to seeing you at the next EMN event.
