1. What is your role at Hydraulic & Offshore Supplies?

Having been with the company for 25 years, my current role is Director.  I initially started working in Internal Sales and was subsequently promoted to Works Manager then Director.  Based in our sales office, I oversee our projects and liaise with our suppliers and customers on a day to day basis.  Being at the company for such a long period of time and being involved in various positions gives me great hands-on experience of every role, when we’re busy or short-staffed, I can still also be found helping clients at our trade counter too!

  1. What gets you out of bed in a morning?

Coffee, haha!  Having worked at HOS for over 25 years, I still enjoy talking to our customers, solving their problems and getting involved with large and complex projects.  We have a great team at HOS and we have a lot of laughs amongst doing the great work we do for our clients.

  1. What makes Hydraulic & Offshore Supplies different?

We have a wealth of experience within our team with a huge amount of industry knowledge, this makes a big difference when speaking with our clients, many of which work in challenging industries.  In 2022, we became a part of the R&G Group of Companies which has given us greater opportunities to provide a larger and more diverse product range to our customers with competitive pricing.

  1. What are the businesses greatest strength?

I think for me, it’s got to be our team.  All of our staff have been here for a number of years and have specialist knowledge in the fluid power sector.  They all know that the challenges the industry faces can be demanding and difficult and as such, know how to adapt quickly and problem solve to make sure our clients’ needs are met.

  1. What are your primary markets / sectors?

Having initially centered the business around the marine and offshore sector, with ever-evolving changes to the fluid power sector, we have more recently gained a reputation for being a supplier to the engineering, automotive and renewables sector.

  1. Do you have growth plans for the future?

Yes, we never rest on our laurels and are always looking for growth opportunities.  We’re currently recruiting for a number of positions with a view to growing our installation and asset management services across the UK.  This, along with a number of marketing and sales strategies we’re currently working on, will help us to grow the business hopefully for the next 30 years!
