1. Tell us about yourself and what Action Coach is all about?

 

My previous roles in engineering and manufacturing ranged from hands-on through to senior managerial where I ran P&L’s in excess of £40million and managing regional teams of 100 people, more than qualifying me to share my perspective on how businesses large and small operate, and successfully deliver results. By not knowing where you’re going, how will you ever get there?

A business growth coach is like a sports coach, we help you to become the best you can be, by:

  • Getting clarity in what you want.
  • Becoming aware of things that are going on in the business.
  • Education through new ideas and strategies to help you overcome challenges and take advantage of opportunities.
  • Implementation of those ideas and make sure they work.
  • Accountability which is a discipline that most business owners lack but sorely need.

All top teams and athletes have coaches, as do all top business people and they do this because they know that in-order to be at their best, they need continued development and accountability.

I provide help to business owners who are typically good at their core business but may not be so good at managing the other key areas of the business, such as having and executing a credible business plan, developing a marketing strategy, time management, financial management, leverage of systems and processes and how to recruit and retain the right people.

  1. What gets you out of bed in a morning?

 

I have 2 lovely teenage daughters who keep my motivated to be the best Dad I can be.

Life is all about choices, we can choose to wake up negative and grind through the day, seeing everything as a problem, or we can choose to wake up positive and enjoy the day and see every challenge as an opportunity, I choose the later, and to be around people with strong core-values and a positive attitude.

Being a business owner can be a lonely place to be.

As a business owner, do you find yourself working long hours and at weekends? Do you rarely get a chance to relax on holiday as work demands your attention?

TIME is something we could all do with more of, however as an infinite resource its something we should use wisely. By managing your time better, I will help you get that time back so you can enjoy it with friends and family.

Alternatively, the very opposite happens when you get the right people on the team who have the right attitude, skill sets and alignment with your objectives. Using personality profiling, I will help you to better identify the right people, with the right attitude and values who are aligned with your vision, mission and culture, and ultimately your success.

MONEY is the reason most of us are in business, and by having a clear understanding about your finances and the importance of cash-flow, forecasting etc, I will help you ensure the sustainability and long term resilience of your business. 90% of businesses go out of business due to lack of cash-flow. We work with you to ensure your cash-flow challenges are a thing of the past.

Growth only happens when you step outside your comfort zone. If you continue to do the same thing every day, then you will get the same results. By stepping outside your comfort zone you will be challenged and you will grow to where those areas of discomfort will then become part of your comfort zone.

  1. What are your primary markets / sectors?

 

With over 27 years in the Manufacturing, Energy and Project Management sectors with corporations and small family run businesses, my primary focus is in these areas where I can use my experience in dealing with typical challenges these sectors face.

  1. Do you have growth plans for the future?

 

In Yorkshire, 1 in 10 businesses have a coach, however in the North-East of England there is less than 1 in 50, which is the lowest of any region in the UK…….

ActionCOACH’s guaranteed growth methodology will be key for businesses here in the North-East to compete and perform nationally, and really level-up. So we are somewhat behind the rest of the country in business coaching terms, and economically. Hence there is a lot of work to do in the North-East to help put the region back on the map as an Engineering Powerhouse, and an area where success is something we can all benefit from.
