More than 120 employees from companies based at a Durham business centre came together to help celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Among them were staff from businesses that have been based at Tanfield Business Centre, in Tanfield Lea, Stanley, since it first opened ten years ago. The centre, which is managed by Business Durham, the economic development organisation for County Durham, on behalf of Durham County Council, is currently home to 25 businesses ranging from marketing and IT consultancy to financial services and dog accessories.

Peter McDowell, business property director with Business Durham, said: “It was great to see the tenants coming together to help celebrate ten years at Tanfield. The great thing about Tanfield is that everything is set up so that business owners can move right in and we have a very low turnover. Whether they want to grow or whether they have specialist requirements in order to succeed, the team at Business Durham is on hand to help them.”

Sanctus Consulting, which specialises in helping businesses source the best energy and renewable energy supply contracts, was the first business to move into Tanfield and now has five staff. Its customers include major companies in the brewing, offshore renewables, leisure and hotels and sporting sectors.

Martin Oswell, managing director of Sanctus, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating our tenth anniversary at the same time as the business centre. The accessibility and location are great for us and there’s excellent connectivity here. We can’t foresee ourselves working anywhere else.”
