Where possible CDEMN likes to support the next generation of engineers by encouraging them to look to our sector as an aspirational source of employment.

Frequently their embedded belief is still that its an industry steeped in blue overalls and oil (which of course still has its place, but is no longer a fair representation).

We work with schools, colleges and universities to help create apprenticeships and other opportunities, bringing educators, students and businesses together. Its our firm belief that these relationships must be led by employers as only they know what is needed in their own businesses to grow.

We are asking that if possible some could support a visit to North Durham Academy (NDA) located in Stanley to help with this initiative.

The school is holding a STEM Inspire Day on the February 21 and would like a selection of business people to attend and provide a short presentation / talk on what they do. Helping them to see the importance of engineering and the possibilities that exist.

If you can help, and we hope you can, please let us know in the first instance and we can put you in touch with the relevant person.
