Due to an influx of requests, Insider has extended the deadline for entries to its prestigious Made in the North East awards.

The final date for submissions – which can be made here – is now 28 July 2017.

Now in their sixth year, the awards recognise and reward manufacturing companies across the region that have demonstrated success in innovation, product development and growth in either domestic or overseas markets.

The event is part of a national suite of manufacturing awards that the company hosts across the UK ahead of the national Made in the UK Awards, which takes place in June every year.

Philip Cunliffe, regional business editor at Insider, said: “We are looking for entries from across the whole of the region’s manufacturing base, businesses that are doing amazing work, producing world-class products in new and innovative ways.

“We want to highlight the very best of the manufacturing sector in the region and take pride in hosting what have become the biggest manufacturing awards in the North East.”

Insider has put together a judging panel of independent experts which will scrutinise each submission and determine the shortlists. These will then be announced in August, with the winners being revealed at the black-tie awards dinner at Redworth Hall, Newton Aycliffe on 19 October.

The awards are being supported by the Department for International Trade, Exporting is Great, County Durham Engineering & Manufacturing Network (CDEMN), North East Automotive Alliance and the Materials Processing Institute.

The ten categories are:
Digital Engineering/Technology Award
Supply Chain Award
Manufacturing Innovation Award
Automotive Award
Export Award
Food & Drink Award
Manufacturing Apprenticeship / Training Scheme Award
Collaboration Award
Small Manufacturing Company of the Year (under £25m)
Large Manufacturing Company of the Year (over £25m)
