Students from Newcastle College took part in the Government’s first Clean Energy Jobs Fair at the Port of Tyne in December, placing the College at the centre of discussions about the North East’s future energy and skills needs.

With around 15,000 new energy jobs expected in the North East by 2030, the event gave students the chance to explore emerging career pathways and connect directly with employers leading the UK’s clean‑energy transition. Organisations from across the sector showcased roles in renewables, engineering and energy infrastructure, helping learners understand the skills required to succeed. Students from the Energy Academy spoke with employers, asked questions about progression and saw how their studies link to real‑world careers. The event comes as Newcastle College prepares to expand its energy provision through an £8.5m investment in a new Energy Campus opening in 2027, strengthening its role in training the workforce needed for the region’s growing clean‑energy sector.
