Designed to equip learners with essential skills for the engineering and manufacturing industries, courses range from introductory to advanced levels, including the EAL Level 1 Award in Introductory Welding Skills and the Level 3 Metal Fabrication Apprenticeship Standard. The Level 1 course introduces basic welding techniques and safety practices, ideal for those exploring a career in welding. The Level 3 apprenticeship combines hands-on experience with academic study, allowing students to work four days a week with an employer and attend college one day weekly.
Training takes place in specialist manufacturing workshops, where students learn processes such as MIG welding, fabrication, hydraulics, and robotics. Entry requirements typically include GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science, ensuring students have a solid foundation for learning. Darlington College also provides outstanding support services to help learners succeed. This training pathway opens doors to careers in engineering, construction, and industrial manufacturing
