S&A Fabrications joins Engineering & Manufacturing Network North East

1. What does S&A Fabrications do?
We are S&A, a specialist group of UK-based steel building, fabrication and construction businesses delivering practical, high-quality solutions to the agricultural, commercial and industrial sectors. Operating through S&A Fabrications, P&K Fabrications, and Roundhouse Building Solutions, we bring together decades of experience, in-house manufacturing capability and a shared commitment to getting buildings right — from concept through to completion.

At the heart of the group is S&A Fabrications, established in 1978 and built on a reputation for reliability, craftsmanship and engineering expertise. From our manufacturing base in the North East of England, we design, fabricate and erect bespoke steel-framed buildings and structural steelwork for clients across the UK. Our work ranges from agricultural buildings such as livestock housing, grain stores and machinery sheds, through to large commercial and industrial structures, aircraft hangars and specialist projects.

We take a genuinely end-to-end approach. Our team supports clients from early design and feasibility, through planning and technical detailing, to fabrication and on-site installation. Because everything is handled in-house, we maintain full control over quality, programme and cost — allowing us to deliver buildings that are tailored, durable and built to last.

For large-scale commercial buildings and aircraft hangars, our specialist offering is delivered through P&K Fabrications. P&K focuses on substantial, technically demanding structures where clear engineering, scalability and buildability are critical. This includes large-span steel buildings, logistics and distribution facilities, industrial units and bespoke aircraft hangars. By drawing on the wider group’s design and manufacturing capability, P&K is able to deliver complex projects with confidence, precision and consistency, supporting clients from design development through to manufacture and installation.

Completing the group is Roundhouse Building Solutions, a specialist business dedicated to the design and supply of round agricultural buildings. These distinctive structures use circular design principles to enhance airflow, improve internal environments and create flexible, efficient spaces for livestock housing, feed storage and specialist farm uses. Roundhouse buildings offer a forward-thinking alternative to conventional sheds and reflect our commitment to innovation and practical problem-solving.

Across all three businesses, we share the same values: clear communication, technical competence and pride in what we build. Whether we are delivering a one-off bespoke structure or a repeatable kit solution, we work closely with our clients to understand their needs and deliver buildings that perform — now and long into the future.

2. What makes S&A Fabrications great?
What makes us great as a group is the way we combine experience, scale and specialism under one roof. With in-house design, engineering, fabrication and installation, we control quality from start to finish while offering tailored solutions through S&A, large-scale commercial expertise through P&K, and innovative agricultural design through Roundhouse. That joined-up approach means clearer communication, fewer compromises and buildings that are practical, robust and built to perform long into the future.

3. What is your 5 year plan?
Over the next five years, our focus is on sustainable growth through investment in our people and our processes. We plan to strengthen our teams through targeted recruitment, training and leadership development, while continuing to modernise our systems, manufacturing capability and project delivery methods. By improving efficiency, consistency and collaboration across the group, we aim to scale responsibly, enhance quality and service, and create a business that is resilient, future-focused and built for long-term success.

4. What are you looking for from your EMN membership?
