Leading robotics distributor RARUK Automation has signed a new partnership deal with innovative AI vision company Cambrian Robotics. Cambrian Vision is a robust vision system that can operate in challenging light conditions and can easily identify parts made from a variety of materials.

RARUK Automation offers the full range of 6 axis collaborative robots, from Danish manufacturer Universal Robots, alongside a variety of UR+ products including end-of-arm-tooling (EOAT) and application solutions. Cambrian Vision will complement RARUK Automation’s existing range of UR+ products including sanding and polishing, fluid dispensing, machine tending, screwdriving and palletising solutions.

Cambrian Vision is ideal for customers looking to automate bin picking, pick and place, machine feeding, feature location, assembly, supermarket and warehouse logistics and other tasks. The AI vision technology can detect part types including transparent, shiny metal and plastic with prediction times of approximately 0.2 seconds. Cambrian Vision is designed to be robust, as it can operate in natural and artificial light, as well as strobe lighting conditions.

Now, RARUK Automation’s customers will either be able to purchase Cambrian Vision as a standalone add-on for a Universal Robot or it can be purchased as part of a Bin Picking Kit. The Bin Picking Kit will include a complimentary feasibility study, Cambrian Vision, a choice between an EPick vacuum gripper and a 2-Finger gripper from Robotiq, as well as certified Universal Robots Core Training.

“At RARUK Automation, we are committed to staying at the cutting edge of new technologies in the collaborative robot field. Our partnership with Cambrian Robotics will open up a range of opportunities for our customers to automate new tasks using AI vision.” Says Ross Lacy, Sales Director of RARUK Automation.

“Partnering with RARUK Automation marks an exciting step in bringing our advanced AI vision technology to more manufacturers across the UK. Our system’s ability to handle traditionally challenging materials like transparent and reflective surfaces, combined with RARUK Automation’s extensive robotics and automation network and expertise, will help customers automate tasks they previously thought impossible.” Concludes Miika Satori, CEO of Cambrian Robotics.
