Last week Teesside University’s apprenticeships team welcomed their future quantity surveyors to their Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre (NZIIC), in Middlesbrough.

NZIIC Director Gari Harris.said: “It is a challenging but exciting time for Teesside and the UK’s industrial decarbonisation agenda, and it was invigorating to have an intelligent cohort of young, bright minds visit our research Centre. It is their future in the balance, and even though it was a short introduction, I am sure it will benefit the Centre, the QS cohort, and their future employers.

Sufri Weithers, Senior Partnerships Lead, at Teesside University, explained, “The visit was a pivotal moment for our future quantity surveyors – seeing how sustainability, digital innovation and construction now go hand-in-hand.”

From green hydrogen to carbon capture and the circular economy, the cohort saw first-hand how the future of construction is being shaped here on Teesside.
