SUMMARY:Member Event: Fibre Reinforced Additive Manufacturing
DESCRIPTION:Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) has evolved beyond non-functional prototypes and now many users are producing end use parts by utilising advanced printing materials\, such as those offered by MarkForged\, to create parts with sufficient strength and accuracy to replace parts that would have typically machined from metal. \nJoin the SAM Team and experts from Additive-X for an event that explores 3D printing with parts reinforced with Carbon Fibre\, Kevlar and Glass Fibre. These reinforced parts have a strength approaching that of aluminium however\, are produced without any complex machining or human oversight. This webinar will look at what separates Markforged 3D printers from other brands\, included will be a slicing software demo that is used for fibre placement along with an applications overview linking to case studies\, cost of ownership and ROI. \nThe SAM Project is an ERDF funded project that supports SME advanced manufactures in the North East of England. During this webinar\, a member of the SAM team will discuss how the team can support your company with a range of support areas. Further details here: www.samprojectuos.co.uk \n*Please note that as the workshops are fully funded through ERDF\, companies not already registered with the SAM Project will be asked to register in advance. \n*SAM Project is delivering this webinar in collaboration with Additive-X. By registering you agree to your details being shared with Additive-X.

SUMMARY:EMN EVENT: Finding solutions for South Tyneside NHS unmet needs.
DESCRIPTION:Many of you will remember and may have even attended our unmet needs with the NHS way back in early 2020 when we could meet together in a room! The event proved to be a huge success and has resulted in a number of our businesses now working with the NHS on a range of projects where their expertise and manufacturing capabilities has helped fulfil unmet needs. \nThis isn’t about creating the next wonder drug or building some sort of scientific wizardry but looks at providing practical and sometimes simple solutions to resolve a wide range of problems. These problems could include literally any form of manufacturing or engineering. \nWhilst we can no longer meet face to face at the moment we have decided to provide another event based on the same parameters but with different unmet needs. \nThis will be held via zoom on Thursday 28th January at 1pm and you can register by clicking the link at the foot of this email. \nWe will hear from Teresa Fortune who you will remember from our 2020 event. Teresa is Head of Innovation at South Tyneside and & Sunderland (ST&S) NHS FT and has worked supporting translational research and the economic and business development of the UK life sciences and healthcare sector since 2004. As Healthcare Specialist Lead with the Regional Development Agency\, One North East\, she lead on strategy realignment and developing key relationships and strategic projects with stakeholders\, including UKTI\, BIS\, DH\, pharma and local SMEs\, NHS and Academic partnerships \nSo please join Engineering & Manufacturing Network and South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust to understand the importance of innovation to the NHS\, the challenge of addressing unmet needs and how this is delivered within a regional NHS Trust.
