SUMMARY:Member to Member Event: Lets Talk: Energy
DESCRIPTION:Over the last few months we have seen energy prices soar affecting businesses profitability significantly in addition to the issues presented by escalating material and labour costs. Engineering & Manufacturing Network have been working hard to find some ways to reduce this albeit of course many of these are small measures\, but we hope they are improving bottom lines as we feel we must try and support our network and region. \nKnowing what can be done is confusing and we are hearing of slight market stabilisation in energy and also ways to reduce standing charges\, in some ways significantly. We are also hearing of ‘interesting’ methods of trying to lure businesses into new contracts that may not necessarily represent best value. \nWorking with our partners Great Annual Savings and Hartlepool College we have created an event to which we would like to invite businesses Thursday 28th April at 8am. This is an opportunity to network with your peers and also listen to the cost improvements that can be made in your business\, alongside a view of where this may all be headed to allow you to plan. \nHartlepool College have also provided an opportunity to tour their fascinating facility with a very strong focus on engineering including aviation\, automotive\, electrical and automation to name just some of their strengths. This is also an excellent way of learning how to build your future workforce through apprenticeships and upskill your current employees. \nPlease come along and join the conversation with an opportunity to speak to GAS advisors informally and without obligation. \nWhen – 8am\, Thursday 28th April \nWhere – Hartlepool College of Further Education \nAgenda: \n8.00 – 8.15am – Networking\, coffee\, etc. \n8.15 – 8.20am – Engineering and Manufacturing Network Intro \n8.20 – 8.25am – Welcome and overview of Hartlepool College of Further Education\, Gary Riches – Assistant Principal \n8.25 – 8.40am – Presentation from GAS (Craig Portsmouth) \n8.40 – 9.30am – Liaise with GAS advisers\, networking\, and College tour (if requested). \n9.30am – END \nhttps://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/call-it-lets-talk-energy-tickets-293150118897

SUMMARY:Promoted Event: Drax and Worley Announce Bioenergy with Carbon Capture & Storage (BECCS) Supplier Roadshow
DESCRIPTION:https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/drax-and-worley-beccs-roadshow-humberside-tickets-297927708797\nSupplier registration and portal now open\nFollowing on from a successful introductory webinar in September 2021\, which can be viewed here\, renewable energy company Drax is continuing a programme of supplier engagement to help deliver its pioneering bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) project in the Humber. BECCS is a climate-saving negative emissions technology that will be critical to helping the UK reach net zero while putting the Humber region at the heart of a global green economy. \nDrax are inviting new and prospective suppliers to attend one of two roadshow events across the Humber and Teesside to learn more about how to get involved with BECCS at Drax. The roadshow events will be co-hosted by Drax and our FEED partners\, Worley. Suppliers hoping to work on the project will have the opportunity to discuss detailed plans for construction of BECCS at Drax with Drax and Worley engineers and submit a formal expression of interest for the project via the supplier registration portal\, Requis. Click here \n\n\nDrax and Worley launch supplier registration portal\nNew and existing suppliers interested in working on the BECCS at Drax project can now submit a formal expression of interest for the project via the supplier registration portal\, Requis. Click here \n\n\nFAQs\nWhat is Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS)?\nBioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) is a technology that has been developed to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. At Drax Power Station we already use biomass sourced from sustainably managed forests to generate electricity\, and we now plan to install BECCS technology to capture the CO2 emitted as part of that energy generation. The process of electricity generation becomes carbon negative\, as more CO2 has been removed from the atmosphere than has been added. The captured CO2 will be transported via pipeline and stored permanently under the seabed of the North Sea by our partners in the East Coast Cluster. \n  \n What’s the latest update on the BECCs at Drax Programme?\nThe BECCS at Drax project is one of the most advanced CCS projects under development in the UK and is an anchor project in the East Coast Cluster. Recent developments include: \n  \n\nFirst CCS project in the UK to announce a capture technology licence agreement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in June 2021\nWorley selected as EPC partner in December 2021\nFEED study commenced January 2022\nDevelopment Consent Order application initiated\, with final submission expected in Q2 2022\n\n  \nI’ve previously signed up through the NOF database\, do I need to register again?\nIf you are a supplier hoping to work on the BECCS at Drax project and have registered for the Drax BECCS supplier database via NOF\, you must also submit a formal expression of interest for the project via supplier registration portal\, Requis. Click here \n\n\nLet’s talk\nLewis Abbott\, Events Administrator (Apprentice) \nE: labbott@nof.co.uk \nT:+44 (0) 191 375 1639
