Growing from a single sales person to a Sales and Marketing team of 10 (and counting) Alexander Battery Technologies applied its strategy to support growth through exhibitions supported by a digital strategy to feed into campaigns. \nBen’s presentation will include: \n\nThe steps Alexander Battery Technologies took towards building its team\nWhat the team builds into its marketing plan… and why\nA review of the company’s successes with its strategy\nWhat it has learned along the way\n\n  \nThis is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the success of an innovative North East company with a rich heritage – and see the difference marketing has made to its journey. \nThe event will also include a panel session with marketing and sales specialists from across the engineering and manufacturing community. \nPeer to peer activity is proven to: \n\nImprove understanding – when you explain a concept to someone else\, you have to think about it more deeply and in a different way. SUMMARY:Engineers & Manufacturers Assemble - About NET Zero
DESCRIPTION:Book Now \nMeeting NET Zero targets for the Engineering & Manufacturing sector is arguably the biggest challenge since the Industrial Revolution and whilst some companies have made great strides\, some have yet to start. \n• But where do you start? \n• How long do you have to get it done and ; \n• What will be the financial implications for your company if you don’t? \nThe Engineering and Manufacturing Network Members are assembling again – this time to get an insight into all of the above. We’ll be hearing from Tamma Carrel of ICOR Systems Ltd explaining the legislation that will start to impact all businesses shortly\, from Michael Hindhaugh of Lloyds Bank who offer free support and toolkits to help you on start or sustain your NET Zero journey. We will also hear from BTS Fabrications Ltd who recently received their Carbon Neutral Certification and are aiming for NET Zero by 2030. \n“Whilst awareness around sustainability issues is growing\, with 95% of SMEs now aware of the 2050 Net Zero target – with increasing awareness comes the need to take greater action. Crucial to making this move from planning to action is having a firm and realistic plan in place. There are positive signs that an increasing number of SMEs are establishing their plans for reaching Net Zero with 39% having set a Net Zero target and deadline to reach it by. ” Lloyds Bank Net Zero Monitor. \nBut that means that 61% have yet to start…is that your business? \nCome and find out how you can start and if you’ve already started…who is available to assist. \nPeer to peer activity is proven to: \n• Improve understanding – when you explain a concept to someone else\, you have to think about it more deeply and in a different way. This can help you to better understand the concept yourself – the power of thinking out loud! \n• Increase motivation – you are often more motivated to learn when you are working with others and creating a sense of camaraderie. \nNB: This event is open to members and non members of the Engineering and Manufacturing Network but preference will be given to members when the event is full. \n  \nIf you make\, manufacture or engineer products please choose the Engineering and Manufacturing Company ticket \n  \nIf you deliver or sell services into Engineering and Manufacturing\, please choose the Service Company ticket option. \n  \nPlease – only one ticket per person and if you are unable to come as the event approaches – please let us know so we can release your ticket to others. Thanks

SUMMARY:Affiliate Event: Lloyds - Markets Matter Conference Call
DESCRIPTION:Policy Rates Continue to Rise\n24th August 09:30am \n\nSince our last call\, in response to stubbornly high levels of inflation\, we have seen monetary policy increases of 25bp from the US Fed\, the ECB and the BoE. In the UK\, highlighting the uncertainty around the future path of rates\, the vote was split with 6 policy makers favouring 25bp increase\, 2 favouring a 50bp increase and 1 favouring no change. While the recent increase in the US followed a pause in rate rises\, with the Fed following their guidance that future policy changes would be ‘data dependent’ and deeming conditions were such that a 25bp increase was warranted.\nWhile data readings have always been key for Central Banks\, the message of data dependency does make it challenging for corporates to have a clear view on the future of monetary policy (and therefore market rates in all asset classes)\, especially where inflation is trending in the right direction but labour markets (in the UK and US) remain tight.\nPlease join us for our next call where we will reflect on both the output from these recent central Bank meetings and data signals in the period following the meetings. The panellists will discuss market reaction to both the meetings and other recent events\, as well as discussing what clients may wish to consider from a risk management perspective given the level of uncertainty around future market moves.\nAs Corporates prepare for the end of the summer period\, this call should give some insight in to some of the factors likely to impact markets and trading across the rest of the year. \n\nJoin the Teams Live event

SUMMARY:Increasing the size of your talent pool and plugging the leaks!
DESCRIPTION:Book Now \nWe’re delighted to host Engineering Together and the Womens’ Engineering Society Tyne Tees Cluster at EMCON 23! \nThis fringe event will take place on site at this years exhibition and is open to anyone Involved or interested in the attraction\, recruitment or retention of staff within the engineering & manufacturing sector. \nAccording to the Closing the Gap 2030 Report by MAKE UK\, in 2022 there were 92\,000 live vacancies in the manufacturing sector\, and recruitment remains a real concern. \nSo what’s the solution? Increasing the size of the talent pool from which to fish can help…but that means no longer “recruiting engineers and manufacturers in your own image”. If we hire individuals who share similar backgrounds\, experiences\, skills and perspectives as team members and managers\, then we limit the skill sets\, the potential innovation and risk suffering from groupthink – stifling new ideas and critical thinking. \nDiversity in terms of background\, gender\, ethnicity\, neurodiversity and experience is proven to lead to more innovative solutions\, but recruiting from a more diverse pool also comes with its challenges which must be addressed head on. And after spending time on recruitment from diverse groups\, we’re still leaking talent! What can we do to encourage retention and return to work for a diverse workforce? \nHear tangible solutions and good practice from engineering & manufacturing colleagues on the attraction\, recruitment & retention of a more diverse workforce. Strike a balance between hiring for ease of integration with bringing in different perspectives. Promote diversity\, actively seek candidates from different backgrounds and create rounded innovative teams. \nIt’s good for business! \nTimings \n13:00 Introductions – Jo Douglas-Harris\, Chair of the Women Engineering Society Tyne Tees Cluster \n13:05 – 14:00 \n\nREACH more candidates – STEMAZING is a Call to Action to collectively amplify the voice of women in Science\, Technology\, Engineering and Maths so we can create a more diverse and inclusive STEM future\nRECRUIT more effectively – language\, target groups – with Lauren Bathan Associate Director – HR Partnership at Jackson Hogg Limited\nRETAIN more people – peer groups; allies; health & well being\, language\, team leader & supervisor training; culture; travel – with Paula McMahon\, Civil Engineer at Sir Robert McAlpine and Co-Chair SRM Gender Equality Network; \nRETURN after absence – flexible or phased return; – STEM Returners – A multi award winning helping employers access the very best available talent whilst improving their diversity & inclusion.\nQ & A\n14:00 onwards Look around EMCON 23
