SUMMARY:EMN EVENT: Finding solutions for South Tyneside NHS unmet needs.
DESCRIPTION:Many of you will remember and may have even attended our unmet needs with the NHS way back in early 2020 when we could meet together in a room! The event proved to be a huge success and has resulted in a number of our businesses now working with the NHS on a range of projects where their expertise and manufacturing capabilities has helped fulfil unmet needs. \nThis isn’t about creating the next wonder drug or building some sort of scientific wizardry but looks at providing practical and sometimes simple solutions to resolve a wide range of problems. These problems could include literally any form of manufacturing or engineering. \nWhilst we can no longer meet face to face at the moment we have decided to provide another event based on the same parameters but with different unmet needs. \nThis will be held via zoom on Thursday 28th January at 1pm and you can register by clicking the link at the foot of this email. \nWe will hear from Teresa Fortune who you will remember from our 2020 event. Teresa is Head of Innovation at South Tyneside and & Sunderland (ST&S) NHS FT and has worked supporting translational research and the economic and business development of the UK life sciences and healthcare sector since 2004. As Healthcare Specialist Lead with the Regional Development Agency\, One North East\, she lead on strategy realignment and developing key relationships and strategic projects with stakeholders\, including UKTI\, BIS\, DH\, pharma and local SMEs\, NHS and Academic partnerships \nSo please join Engineering & Manufacturing Network and South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust to understand the importance of innovation to the NHS\, the challenge of addressing unmet needs and how this is delivered within a regional NHS Trust.

SUMMARY:EMN EVENT: EMCONF Driving Recovery
DESCRIPTION:Following what has been a most extraordinary year we are now hopefully all thinking ahead to better times and moving towards the new normal. \nOver the last 6 months\, EMN have worked with its members on a range of support initiatives to help them manage their way through the various obstacles that COVID has presented. So that now begs the question as to how we can move forward and what is being done to support this by the various agencies available in the North East\, or to put it another way how do we ‘Drive Recovery’ beyond where we find ourselves now. \nHaving determined that our annual EMCON Show may not be viable in October this year we moved the date to March 8th 2021\, allowing sufficient time for confidence in our sector to build and peoples personal confidence to return. However\, when making our decision to delay we decided to hold the original EMCON date of Thursday\, October 8th and create a webinar designed specifically to help us in our current situation and discuss the process of recovery. \nWe are therefore very pleased to launch our first ‘Driving Recovery’ webinar for the region\, created by industry experts\, sme business owners and of course our strategic partners. \nPlease join us at 10am on October 8th via ZOOM and hear from professionals who can support your business. \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/89268623171 \nThe morning will consist of a discussion between the North East and Tees Valley Local Enterprise Partnerships as to their part in supporting the recovery process\, how the local authorities are driving regeneration and recovery and our keynote which will be announced very shortly! \nWe also want to present the opportunity for you to ask pertinent questions and as such will be seeking these in advance from attendees and via the Zoom comments forum on the day. \nWe look forward to seeing you all and continuing to help you in your journey.
