SUMMARY:E&M Event: Secure Places and Safe Language - an event inspired by the INWED 2023 theme
DESCRIPTION:Book Now \n‘Secure Places and Safe Language’ is inspired by the INWED 2023 theme #MakeSafetySeen. \nOur guest speakers will share how their work contributes to safety and security. We shall be covering a variety of topics covering feeling secure in places including our workplaces and transport systems and feeling safe in the language we use. Real-life examples and ideas will be explored in a Q&A session to further share ideas and discussions to make everyone feel welcome\, safe and secure. \nThis free online event is an open-to-all event which has been organised by Engineering Together in association with the Women’s Engineering Society Tyne and Tees Cluster and Engineering & Manufacturing Network. \nMeet our speakers \nPAULA McMAHON\, Founder of The Line \nPaula is a high profile multi award winning Civil Engineer who educates many on the need for and advantages of a more equitable and sustainable society. \nPaula works for Sir Robert McAlpine where she mentors staff working towards professional qualifications and manages the wide reaching and varied social value on the A19 DBFO Project. \n  \nShe is an Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Trustee and Head of UK Regions as well as being the Honorary Editor for the flagship Civil Engineering international journal. \n  \nPaula also is an active Women’s Engineering Society (WES) member where she has recently has been appointed Chair of the WES Climate Emergency Group. \n  \nIn her spare time Paula set up TheLine to help everyone think about the language they hear and use. \n  \nMore details and speaker announcements will be added in due course. \nIn the meantime feel free to check out the contents of the \nEngTog YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@EngTog \nAnd in particular our past INWED themed play list: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLk71WsDGw4TnKXjJ9xWtXMjGIlJpMyHI7 \n  \n\n\n\n\nThe Top 50 Women in Engineering WE50 2023 celebrates the women engineers who are engaged in safety and security and who #MakeSafetySeen. These amazing women work to keep us safe\, wherever we are\, whether at work or leisure\, at home or online. Following in the footsteps of the WES first Secretary\, Dame Caroline Haslett\, who invented the three-pin safety plug to protect children from electric shocks\, the 2023 WE50 winners will be women who are protecting the public through their work\, often unseen and unknown. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUseful Information \nTicket sales end 4 hours before the event start time. Full sign in instructions shall be issued to the email address provided 2 hours before the event start time (UK Time Zone). \nWe plan to record this event and store / share this recording with Engineering Together and their associated organisations. Please note on most platforms this can be copied and saved by others and the name entered shall be displayed. By signing up to this event you are agreeing to be part of the chat. \nTo minimise interference and to maintain bandwidth upon entry your video shall be disabled\, and your microphone muted.
