SUMMARY:Affiliate Event: Lloyds - Markets Matter Conference Call
DESCRIPTION:Policy Rates Continue to Rise\n24th August 09:30am \n\nSince our last call\, in response to stubbornly high levels of inflation\, we have seen monetary policy increases of 25bp from the US Fed\, the ECB and the BoE. In the UK\, highlighting the uncertainty around the future path of rates\, the vote was split with 6 policy makers favouring 25bp increase\, 2 favouring a 50bp increase and 1 favouring no change. While the recent increase in the US followed a pause in rate rises\, with the Fed following their guidance that future policy changes would be ‘data dependent’ and deeming conditions were such that a 25bp increase was warranted.\nWhile data readings have always been key for Central Banks\, the message of data dependency does make it challenging for corporates to have a clear view on the future of monetary policy (and therefore market rates in all asset classes)\, especially where inflation is trending in the right direction but labour markets (in the UK and US) remain tight.\nPlease join us for our next call where we will reflect on both the output from these recent central Bank meetings and data signals in the period following the meetings. The panellists will discuss market reaction to both the meetings and other recent events\, as well as discussing what clients may wish to consider from a risk management perspective given the level of uncertainty around future market moves.\nAs Corporates prepare for the end of the summer period\, this call should give some insight in to some of the factors likely to impact markets and trading across the rest of the year. \n\nJoin the Teams Live event

SUMMARY:Affiliate Event: Lloyds Bank - Markets Matter - Client Economics Call
DESCRIPTION:The start of ‘higher for longer’? \n  \n8th November 09:30am \n  \nThe UK and US central banks paused their interest rate hiking cycles at their last policy meetings raising questions around where interest rates go from here\, while recent financial markets moves are a response to policymakers who point to a ‘higher for longer’ interest rate environment. \n  \nThere are policy announcements across UK\, US and European central banks late in October and early in November with the BoE additionally releasing their Monetary Policy Report\, which should give good insight into the updated thinking of the rate setting committee.  On the call\, panellists will digest what all of this means for corporates as they react to the changing external market environment. \n  \nAdditionally\, as we head in to 2024 many corporates are becoming further attuned to the political risk provided by elections in both the UK and US\, along with other geopolitical considerations.  To unpick some of this we will be joined on the call by Gary Cook\, our Group Head of Public Policy\, alongside our usual panel members. \n  \nGiven the updates around Bank of England policy thinking and the political considerations in 2024 this call should be of interest to all corporates and individuals. \nJoin the Teams Live event

SUMMARY:Affiliate Event - Lloyds - Markets Matter Call
DESCRIPTION:The start of 2024 has continued the theme of a disconnect between rhetoric from\ncentral bankers around monetary policy and their associated caution in declaring\nvictory over inflationary pressures\, and market expectations of significant interest rate\ncuts across this year. While markets continue to price rate cuts across most major\neconomics there is beginning to be some divergence around how soon and how much\neach central bank is expected to loosen policy\, with associated FX market impacts. This\nfriction has already been highlighted as a key driver of potential volatility as the year\nprogresses. \nThis call will follow crucial central bank meetings and rate announcements from the\nBank of England\, Federal Reserve and ECB\, with the BoE also releasing an updated\nMonetary Policy Report which will be reviewed by market participants in detail for clues\naround future policy moves and the outlook for growth and inflation. On the call\,\npanellists will digest the output from these central bank meetings\, the content of the UK\nMPR\, and provide insights into the most recent economic and political events that are\naffecting global markets. \nWith much to discuss from an economic\, fiscal and political stand point this call should\nbe relevant to all corporates. \nhttps://emn.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Markets-Matter-Call_060224.pdf
