Newcastle College’s Rail and Civil Engineering Academy welcomed leading employers for its annual Industry Week, offering students hands-on experience and career insights. Over three days, students engaged with professionals from Network Rail, Vital UK, Story Plant, NEXUS, Octavius, and Esh Construction through live demonstrations and workshops. Highlights included a welding display on the Academy’s outdoor track and a site visit to the Tyne Bridge restoration project with Esh Construction. The event showcased the close connection between rail and civil engineering, with VR safety sessions and real-world applications enhancing learning. Students praised the opportunity to network and apply new skills to their studies. Industry representatives emphasised the importance of nurturing future talent, with many former students now working in the sector. The Academy continues to deliver industry-informed training, preparing students for careers in rail, civil, and built environment engineering.

Newcastle College Energy Academy Welcomes CrowdHouse Energy

Newcastle College recently welcomed Richard Blackwell from CrowdHouse Energy to its Energy Academy to speak to Energy Engineering degree students. Students were introduced to the business and invited to apply for internships at the solar energy company, supporting the Academy’s aim to provide students with hands-on learning and immersive experience in industry to prepare them for their future careers
